Mid-day meals are prepared on the premises and served in a cash cafeteria system. There is a choice of foods available and children may purchase from a choice of 2 set meals, one vegetarian, and in addition there is a salad choice, or roll choice. A school meal costs £1.90 this includes a main course and sweet. As it is necessary for children to keep their dinner money until the lunch period, loose cash must be carried in a named wrist purse, neck purse or money belt in order to avoid loss.
Provision is made for children to eat home-packed lunches during the midday break. Glass bottles for liquids, conventional flasks and canned fizzy drinks cause considerable problems through breakage, injury, mess or damage and should not be brought to School. However, the modern type of plastic childproof flask is acceptable. A screw top is essential. The assistance of dining room helpers is provided free.
In the event of a child forgetting to bring a packed lunch or dinner money, a sandwich or similar meal will be provided for which payment can be made the following day. Please repay borrowed money promptly. A drink of water is available. Children are encouraged to bring a small plastic bottle for water. These bottles will be kept in the classroom.
Free School Meals
Entitlement to free school meals is restricted to those children from families in receipt of Family Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance. Applications must be renewed at the beginning of each new term.
