With the Easter holiday fast approaching, I am writing to wish you all an enjoyable break and to take the opportunity to give you some important dates for your diary during the summer term.
Year 5 Production:
I am sure that the parents who came to Tuesday and Wednesday evening's performance of 'Joe's Coat' were amazed at the quality and high standards achieved by all of our talented youngsters in Year 5. I must congratulate all involved for their effort and hard work in preparing for the shows and the energy and enthusiasm shown throughout. Thank you to the many parents who provided costumes and supported the children in preparation for the show and to all of the staff in Year 5 who have worked tirelessly to give the children an opportunity to take part in a very special production.
Thank you to those parents who returned a questionnaire and for the many positive comments and suggestions we have received regarding the quality of provision at Sarisbury CE Junior. I will send a summary home to parents of the feedback received after the Easter Break once a full analysis has been completed; details will also appear on our school's website.
Fun Run 2014:
I am also taking the opportunity to give advance notice of our annual Fun Run. I hope as many children and parents as possible will be able to take part in this year's event which is due to take place on Saturday 17th May. For those not able to take part on the Saturday, we will hold a separate run on Thursday 15th May at 4pm. This is always a really popular event each year and we would like parents and friends to support us again by sponsoring their child and of course, by participating in the Fun Run itself! Further details will be sent home after the holiday. In the meantime, please put this date in your diary as I hope as many of you as possible will be able to come along and join in the community atmosphere.
I am delighted to be able to tell you that our cross country teams have had another excellent season with the boys' team runners up in the league this year. The girls ran superbly to win the Championship Race at Crookhorn Community School in March and defended their title from last season. We are very proud of our runners for their commitment during a rain affected season and for their achievements this year.
The Year 3 and 4 Boys' Football Team won the Fareham and Gosport Cup for the second year running; many congratulations to Mr Boalch and the boys in Years 3 and 4. Congratulations also go to Mr Richards and the Year 5 and Year 6 Football Teams who have won the Fareham and Gosport League this season and have also reached the final of the Hampshire Cup; winning their semi-final against Anton Junior 3 ? 2 on penalties! An excellent season for all our footballers well done!
The netball team have been confirmed as champions of the Fareham and Gosport League this year, having won every match throughout the season. The standard of netball and sportsmanship has been superb and we are all very proud of their achievements.
My thanks to the many parents who have helped transport our sports teams to and from various fixtures; your support is much appreciated.
Dinner Money & Menu Choices:
The menu choices for the first week back are taken from Week 2. Please note that Tuesday's meal will be the one printed for Monday of that week; we revert to Wednesday as normal.
May I also take this opportunity to thank Rev Matheson and our Friends from St Paul's for their support in our Easter Services today and to the many parents who walked the children to and from the Church; your help was also much appreciated.
